| South East Regional Bagcat Championships 2006 |
Holly Ralfe and Luke Smith continued to lead the way for Canterbury swimmers on the the second and final weekend of Championship swimming at the K2 centre at Crawley. With the final swims out the way Holly was crowned overall Bagcat champion for the girls 12 yr age group and Luke came away with 2nd place in the boys 14yr age group. They were not the only successes as the club left the championships with another 8 swimmers in the BagCat top twenty of their respective age groups.

Michael Stanley, 14, came 5th, Caroline Robinson, 11, was 7th. Sister Helen Robinson, 13 was 9th with Aleks Krunic, 14 coming 12th. The clubs youngest competitor at the championships, Bethany Seaman, 10 did well to finish in 14th place, and Danielle Ingleston, 12, came 17th. Finally Louis Moore, 11, and Jacob Gainey, 13, came 19th. The final weekend was not only about the Bagcat placings, there was also some serious swimming to take place with both the 800m and 1500m freestyle races taking place in the Saturaday and Sunday morning sessions.

First out of the blocks in the 1500m were Jacob Gainey and Ben Watson. 30 lengths later Jacob had swum into 9th place and Ben into 12th place. Fine efforts by both. Next up was Luke Smith. Great hopes were placed on Luke as the longer distances suit his all out attacking style and Luke didn't disappoint, swimming into 4th place in the 14yr age group. The first race in the Saturday afternoon session saw Louis Moore and Michael Stanley gain top ten placings in the 100m Breaststroke. Louis was placed 7th and Michael 5th. |
| The next race also saw top ten placing for Bethany Seaman and Caroline Robinson in the 200m breaststroke. Bethany swam into 7th and Caroline into 5th. Next up, the gruelling 200m fly for the boys. Guy Hewitt and Luke Smith kept their rhythm going to gain 6th and 2nd placings respectively. In the girls 200m freestyle Caroline Robinson and Helen Robinson match each others 7th place. |

Sunday morning saw the 800m freestyle, and their was more sucess for Luke Smith, 3rd, Jacob Gainey, 5th, Aleks Krunic, 6th and Ben Watson, 8th. For the girls Holly Ralfe was 2nd, Helen Robinson 4th, Caroline Robinson 7th and Danielle Ingleston 9th. In the 100m breaststroke, the first race of the afternoon session Caroline Robinson was 6th and Bethany Seaman 8th. In the boys 200m breaststroke event Michael Stanley swopped into 3rd place and Louis Moore finished 9th |
| Next was the girls turn to swim the 200m butterfly. Despite having a cold Elizabeth Grealish kept going for a pb and 4th place. This was match by Danielle Ingleston, keeping her technique going for all 4 lenghts. Helen Robinson then swam into 5th place. So we finally come to the last race of the championship, the boys 200m freestyle. And it ended up like most of the other races Canterbury swimmers competed in with high placings for Luke Smith, 2nd Michael Stanley, 7th and Aleks Krunic 10th. |

Finally their were fine swims and a number of pb's from Elizabeth Wells 12, Becky Everest 11, Cydney Martin 13, Michael Lindsay 11, and Ryan Powell 13.
