Four swimmers from the club qualified for the National Biathlon Championships at Macclesfield after competing at the South East Regional Biathlon at Tonbridge on 29 th March 2009.
The day started off to be very successful for the Canterbury swimmers with exceptional swims from Dan Seagrove-Castleand and Helen Robinson. Dan winning the Youth B Boys Best Swim Award for 200m Freestyle in a time of 1.59.76 and Helen winning the Youth A Girls Best Swim Award for 200m Freestyle in a time of 2.11.78, Caroline Robinson finished 4th and Dominika Szucsova finished 8th in the Youth B Girls 200m Freestyle. They all earned valuable points towards the biathlon. Then the determined four competed in their run, Dan, Domi and Caz ran 2000m all finishing with personal best times. Helen ran 3000m where she finished in 5th place. After all the points were added up it proved to be a very successful day for all four Canterbury swimmers, as they all finished in the Top Ten in the UK in their age group. Helen was awarded 3rd in the Youth A Girls, Dan was awarded 4th in the Youth B Boys, Caroline was awarded 5th and Dominika 8th in the Youth B Girls. Well done to all of you , it was great to see the determination in all of you in the swim and the run.
