An amazing 42 medals were won by The City of Canterbury Swimming Club members at the Open Meet at Margate on the 5th June. For results click here...
All events were 50m Sprints. In the 10 year old section Louis Moore won silver medals in breaststroke and butterfly, a bronze in freestyle and came 4th in the butterfly.Elizabeth Grealish earned 5th place in the butterfly with team mate Katie French coming 4th . Bethany Seaman had great swims to win a bronze medal in backstroke and 5th place in freestyle and breaststroke.In the 11 years age group Elizabeth Wells came 3rd in the breaststroke with Nicole Prosser coming 6th in the backstroke.
Many medals were won by Canterbury swimmers in the 12 year old age group. Thomas Vafidis came 1st in butterfly, 2nd in freestyle & backstroke and 3rd in the breaststroke. Natalie Moore came 1st in the breaststroke and freestyle with a 2nd in the backstroke. Ben Walsh came 5th in the butterfly and 6th in the freestyle.
Francesca Berry took home a 5 th place medal in freestyle. The 13 years age group saw Matthew Wells win bronze medals in butterfly & freestyle and he came 5th in the breaststroke. Gemma Coley won bronze medals in butterfly and breaststroke and came 4th in the freestyle and 5th in the backstroke. Adam Grealish earned himself a 6th place in the butterfly. The 14 year age group was well represented by City of Canterbury swimmers. Laurence Hill won gold in the breaststroke, 2 silvers in backstroke and freestyle, with a 4th place for butterfly. Matthew Hirst won a silver medal in butterfly, a bronze in the breaststroke and a 5th place in the backstroke. Joanna Bond won gold in the breaststroke. Nathan Ingleston came 4th in the backstroke and 5th in the freestyle. Emma Drewitt came 5th in the butterfly.
Overall 70 pb's were achieved, a very successful day
