The early start and long journey didn't seem to have any effect as Becky Everest 11yr, Cydney Martin 13yr, Claire Robinson 14/15yr and Rachael Seaman 14/15yr soon started building up their medal collections. In the 100m backstroke the girls produced strong, competitive swims with Cydney finishing 2nd, Beckey 3rd and Claire 5th. Next came the 100m fly with Cydney 3rd, Becky and Claire 4th and Rachael 8th. Becky then followed up with a battling, 1st in the 200m freestyle. With Cydney 4th, Rachael 6th and Claire 8th the girls were on a roll, relaxed and happy on pool side. Cheered on from poolside by the Canterbury girls Becky grabbed 2nd place in the 100m Breaststroke and Claire 6th in the 200 IM.
In the final event, the 100m freestyle, Rachael produce her best swim since recovering from illness which has affected most of her swimming season to take 2nd place. Cydney battled into 4th place , and Becky came 6th. So another Gala finished with high placings for the competing Canterbury swimmers, with the girls having enjoyed the gala and the relaxed but serious attitude on poolside.
