Gateshead and Whickham Meet 2005 - Ponds Forge

17 City of Canterbury swimmers attended the Gateshead and Whickham long course designated meet on 29th and 30th January, to gain entry into the district and national championships to be held in the summer.

In the 11 years old section Jacob Gainey came 1st in the 400m freestyle, 2nd in 200m backstroke and 3rd in 100m backstroke. Holly Ralfe had impressive swims to achieve 4 long course national qualifying times.

Holly Campbell came 2nd in the 12 years age group in 100m breaststroke and 3rd in 200m backstroke, Holly also achieved 5 national qualifying times.

Aleks Krunic came 2nd in 400m freestyle and also achieved a national qualifying time and gained 3rd places in 400m ind medley, 200m backstroke and 100m backstroke. Rachael Seaman came 1st in the 50m freestyle.

In the 13years age group Luke Smith achieved 6 national qualifying times and 2nd place in 200m butterfly and 3rd in 400m ind medley.

Karl Botha came 1st in 100m butterfly in a national qualifying time, 2nd in 200m freestyle and 3rd 100m freestyle. Lucy Shilling came 3rd in 50m breaststroke. Drew Mannering came 1st in 50m breaststroke and 2nd in 50m freestyle.

Personal best times were also achieved by Danielle Ingleston, Guy Hewett, Abigail Cox, Angus Hewett, Michael Stanley, Becci Hill, Emma Stanley and Craig Simmons .
